Expert Review – MSN Hotmail – Free Email Service
Not only does MSN Hotmail email look nice, but it also works with a straight-forward interface that makes most actions easily accessible with a few clicks (keyboard shortcuts will also be identical). Hotmail can be accessed and integrated well with Outlook Express or Outlook for a small fee.
The spam filter (which could be better) is applied to the incoming message so that your mailbox is not overloaded with spam. Instead, Hotmail makes it easy to distinguish mail from people you know, newsletters, and messages from as-yet-unknown senders. Unfortunately, missing messages, automatic sorting and prioritization, and virtual folders.
Rich security and editing features
If one or the other spam email reaches your Hotmail Inbox despite the spam filter, it’s easy to report it and make the filter even better. MSN Hotmail also has great security features, especially if you access it from a public terminal, and can block remote images in emails, not from safe senders, to protect your privacy.
If you decide to reply, Hotmail lets you use a nice editor for rich text emails and a simple but handy tool for attaching good quality photos with a low file size.
When MSN Hotmail Email comes up short
Unfortunately, this only works with Internet Explorer on Windows, and Hotmail’s word processing skills aren’t nearly as sophisticated. It’s also a shame that MSN Hotmail doesn’t support POP or IMAP access (although it’s easy to recover Hotmail in any email client with one of the many third-party tools).
