Installing the Pin It Button Speeds Up Your Pinterest Experience

The Pinterest Pin It button is a bookmarking button that Pinterest.com users can install in their web browsers to enhance their experience with the image-sharing social network. It takes a few seconds to install from the Goodies page on Pinterest.com. Once installed, the Pin It button appears in the bookmarks bar of any major web browser.
What does the button do when pressed?
The Pin It button is a bookmark or small snippet of javascript code and creates a bookmark selection function with one click. Once installed, when you click the Pin It button in your browser’s bookmarks bar, a script will run that allows you to automatically “pin” or save images to personal image collections you’ve created on Pinterest.com.
The Pinterest button, of course, is designed to let you bookmark images you find and like online while browsing other websites. Clicking the button saves a copy of any image you select and saves it, along with a copy of the URL or image address, back to Pinterest.com.
When you visit a web page and click the Pinterest button in your browser’s menu bar, a grid of all the possible images on that web page that are available to pin to Pinterest boards is immediately displayed.
Just select the image you want and click “Pin This”. A drop-down menu will then appear containing all of your image boards on Pinterest. Click the down arrow to see all your cards. Then select the name of the board where you want to save the image you’re offering.
How to install the Pinterest button
Installing the Pinterest bookmarklet is almost as easy as dragging a small button up to your web browser’s horizontal menu bar and releasing it.
At the top of the Goodies page, Pinterest presents instructions for installing the Pinterest button in your specific browser. It senses the browser you are using and automatically gives you these specific instructions.
If you use Apple’s Safari, for example, it will say at the top of the page: “To install the ‘Pin It’ button in Safari: Show your bookmarks by clicking View > Show Bookmarks Bar…” just drag the Pin It button that appears on the page to the browser toolbar and release it.
Make sure the correct browser name is displayed on the Goodies page before following the instructions.
The idea is the same, though, for every browser. The instructions only differ in how you make sure the bookmarks toolbar appears because each browser labels its bookmarks menu slightly differently. In any case, once you’ve brought up the bookmarks bar, drag the little Pin It button up to the bookmarks menu and let go.

Whenever you visit websites and click the Pin It button, you can take a picture and save it to one of our Pinterest boards. Clicking the Pin It button also pins the original source code of the images you are saving and creates a link to the original source. So anyone who clicks on your images on Pinterest can go see them in their original context.
